At the end of the last school year, students from the Secondary School in Strážnice visited the 74th Mechanised Battalion in Bučovice. The visit gave them a unique insight into military life and the career opportunities offered by the Czech Armed Forces.
The students attended a presentation on the history of the 74th Mechanised Battalion, the evolution of its role, its deployments on overseas operations and its future development. Representatives from the University of Defence then introduced the opportunities available through military higher education, including the entry requirements and the benefits of pursuing a military career.
The highlight of the visit was a hands-on display of military vehicles, weapons and equipment. Students had the opportunity to try on body armour, take a closer look at modern weapons and speak directly with soldiers about their day-to-day work.
