The linking of the Czech Republic’s external and internal security, the current challenges facing the domestic defence industry, cutting-edge Czech technological products, and the financing of start-ups through venture funds were among the main topics of the 13th annual national conference Our Security Cannot Be Taken for Granted, which we organised on 5 March 2026 in the Ball Game Hall of Prague Castle.
The President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, accepted the invitation to speak alongside leading experts. The official opening was attended by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade, Karel Havlíček, the Minister of Defence, Jaromír Zůna, and the First Deputy Minister of the Interior, Lukáš Klučka. Panel discussions also featured the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, General Karel Řehka, the Director General of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, Lieutenant General Vladimír Vlček, the Police President of the Czech Republic, Lieutenant General Martin Vondrášek, and other distinguished guests. The traditional political panel, attended by the leaders of political parties and movements represented in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, was also part of the programme.
The conference was held under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel; the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš; the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Petr Macinka; the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Jaromír Zůna; and the Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Metnar.
